SMMAS Weekly News: August 17th - 21st
Happy August Spartan Families!
Today we welcomed our teachers back to campus, and our building is buzzing with new year energy, ideas, and creativity. Together, we went to Mass and received a blessing from Father Michael. After some sweet treats, coffee, and catching up, we spent time resting in our theme for the school year: Faith Forward. Our retreat was grounded in the scripture: "We walk by faith, not by sight." (2 Corinthians 5:17). Faculty and staff reflected on the words and collaborated for team challenges, partner discussions, and individual discovery. The work has just begun and we look forward to building on today's ideas and successes. We will be ready for next week!

This week, we will host the first Spartan Alliance Meeting of the year, and all parents are invited! Agenda Topics will include:
- Trimester 1 Events, Activities, and Celebrations (We will be looking for and scheduling Event Chairs, plus creating committees.)
- Room Parent Roles & Responsibilities
- Overview of Bake Sale Set Up, Procedures, and Clean Up
- Canva Flyers + Google Forms
- Zelle Policy & Procedures
BONUS - All parents who attend the August 19th meeting will earn a FREE DRESS pass for their student(s) on Tuesday, September 8th, 2026.

.Important School Information:
- Gradelink login information will be sent home during the first week of school
- Parent/Student Handbook is under construction and will be made available to all parents the first week of school. It will be posted to the school website and aligned with ADLA standards.
- Back to School Night is Thursday, September 10th, 2026 for Grades 1-8 from 6-8pm. Stay tuned - a detailed schedule will be posted soon.
- School Picture Day is Thursday, September 10th, 2026 @ 8:00am. Information will be sent home in the last week of August.
- Music Under the Stars is Friday, September 11th and Saturday, September 12th. This is the annual Parish Fundriaser and we hope you can join us. Raffle Tickets are $25 each or 5 for $100 (Pay for 4 and get 1 free!). You can purchase tickets after Mass, at the Church office, and at the school office starting August 27th, 2026. More details to come. SMMAS will be hosting the Children's Area again! We will definitely need some help!

As per California State Law, all incoming 7th Graders must have their TDAP vaccine. Please provide a copy to the office before the start of the school year. For more information or if you would like to learn more about California school immunization requirement, please visit the Shots For Schools website. |

Don't forget...
The first day of school is August 26th, 2026 @ 7:45 am.
August 26-28 will be early dismissal at 12:30 pm.
After School Care will be available beginning the first day of school.

August 24th is Supply Drop-off at SMMAS!
Families can drop off their students' supplies to the marked tables in the lunch area. Teachers and aides will collect the supplies from this area and deliver them to the classrooms.
NOTE: Students can bring their supplies on the first day of school.
TK/K Families - You can bring your supplies to the August 20th Information Night with your teachers.

2026-2027 SMMAS Uniform Updates:
Please click here for the updated uniform guide. All items remain the same; one sweatshirt has been added for Grades 6-8. The SMMAS Uniform Guide is also posted on the Spartan Family Space. Sweaters are not required in August or during periods of extreme heat. Teachers will keep their classes informed.
**An update to the Uniform Policy will be provided by Wednesaday. We are reviewing in our meetings.
Note: Mass uniforms are white shirts only this year, with formal bottoms and one of the sweater options.

The Spartan Alliance Parent Group will host the last
Used Uniform Sale for Back-to-School
in the St. Margaret Mary Room on
Monday, August 24th, from 9:00 am-3:00 pm.
Prices range from $5 -$20:
$5 - Blouses, polo shirts, PE shorts & sweatpants
$10 - Skorts, shorts, dress shorts & pants, sweaters, vests, & sweatshirts
$15 - Jumpers and skirts
$20 - All Jackets (nylon, fleece)
