Enrichment Programs: Music, PE, and Spanish

In addition to daily core academics, all students in TK through 8th grade receive weekly dedicated instruction in Music, Physical Education (PE), and Spanish. These essential co-curricular programs are intentionally woven into our curriculum to enhance cognitive growth, foster healthy habits, and deepen cultural understanding.

How Co-Curriculars Support Academic Excellence

Music Education

  • Cognitive Development & Math Readiness: Studying music strengthens neural pathways associated with spatial-temporal reasoning, pattern recognition, and mathematical concepts.
  • Language & Literacy Skills: Music instruction sharpens auditory processing, listening comprehension, and vocal articulation, directly enhancing reading and language acquisition.
  • Focus & Collaboration: Rehearsing and performing in harmony builds concentration, memory retention, and the discipline of working together toward a common goal.

Physical Education (PE)

  • Brain Health & Executive Function: Regular physical activity increases blood flow and oxygen to the brain, improving focus, memory retention, and classroom engagement.
  • Gross Motor Skills & Coordination: Age-appropriate physical training develops spatial awareness, balance, agility, and overall physical health.
  • Character & Sportsmanship: PE teaches self-discipline, goal setting, perseverance, and how to work respectfully within a team environment.

Spanish Language Instruction

  • Mental Flexibility & Problem-Solving: Learning a second language enhances critical thinking, cognitive agility, and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Stronger Foundation in English: Studying foreign grammar structures deepens students' understanding of English mechanics, vocabulary, and sentence construction.
  • Global Perspective: Early language learning opens minds to world cultures, fostering empathy and effective communication in a multicultural society.

Through these vibrant enrichment programs, our students bring our Schoolwide Student Learning Expectations (SLEs) to life—growing into Active Christians, Lifelong Learners, Effective Communicators, and Responsible Citizens as they nurture their God-given talents in body, mind, and spirit.
