Upper Elementary (3rd – 5th Grade)

  • Developmental Focus: Cultivating independent thinking, study habits, time management, organizational skills, and collaborative problem-solving.

  • Literacy & ELA: Shifts from "learning to read" to "reading to learn." Students engage with complex informational texts and novels, expand their academic vocabulary, and practice structured paragraph and essay writing across genres (narrative, persuasive, expository).

  • Mathematics: Builds operational fluency and abstract reasoning. Key topics include multi-digit multiplication/division, fractions, decimals, geometry, perimeter/area, and multi-step word problems.

  • Science: Applies the scientific method, hypothesis testing, and structured inquiry. Students explore Earth, Physical, and Life sciences through guided lab experiments and data collection.

  • Religion & Faith Formation: Continues Catholic faith formation through deeper exploration of Scripture, learning the order and significance of parts of the Mass, expanding prayer life, studying the virtues, and discovering how to live out Gospel values daily.
